Email Google's GMail has just gone through some updates, check out whats new.
The folks at Google must be feeling the pains from the recent updates with Yahoo! Mail and decided it was time to update its own emailing system. Last week Google started to roll out IMAP access to its users and now it starts launching the GMail 2.0 (still in beta). The visuals have practically stayed the same. The first noticeable change was a result of the JavaScript used. Now browsing through the site is much faster. You can go through the labels and between messages a lot quicker.
The other major change was in its contacts management area. Now things are a bit more organized with more fields for you to fill out and also easier for you to add a picture (there is an integration with Picasa). The change in this area was much appreciated. I never liked GMail's contacts' area, with this Yahoo! was much better. Fortunately Google likes me and updated my account pretty early with IMAP and now with these changes. To see if your account has also been updated you can check the top-right side of your screen for a "Older Version" or "Newer Version" link. I think these updates for Portuguese and other non-English languages will take some more time, so please make sure to change your language to English. Source: Google Blogoscoped.
