A list of Opensource games for you divided into different themes. Screenshots of each game are at the end of the article. All of these games are free and will work in Windows and other systems. If you have any other recommendation, please list them on the comments.
Classic
Crack Attack! (Windows, Linux, and Mac OS X): Inspired by the Super NES title Tetris Attack!
SuperTux (Windows, Linux, Mac OS X and even PSP): A classic similar do Nintendo's Super Mario Bros., here the main character is Tux, the Linux mascot.
Tux Racer (Windows, Linux, and Mac OS X): A 3D game where you will take Tux through a race down an ice and snow mountain.
BZFlag (Windows, Linux, and Mac OS X): A 3D battle of tanks which can also be played online. One of the most popular opensource games having been distributed over 1 million times.
Action
Tremulous (Windows and Linux): Similar to Quake II, a first person shooter game with excellent graphics.
Wormux(Windows, Linux and Mac OS X): A clone of Worms, where your favorite software mascots battle with each other.
Simulator
FlightGear (Windows, Linux and Mac OS X): Based on Flight Simulator, this project is incredibly nice and well done.
LinCity (Windows, Linux and Mac OS X): If you know SimCity you'll know your way around this LinCity.
Vega Strike (Windows, Linux and Mac OS X): A 3D space action game simulating where you'll have different missions, such as: transport, defend, rescue and hunt.
Strategy
Battle for Wesnoth(Windows, Linux and Mac OS X): A RPG where you build up and strengthen your army to win great battles.
FreeCiv (Windows and Mac OS X): The opensource equivalent to Sid Meier's Civilization. You build your civilization and try to dominate the world. Available in 29 languages you can also play online with others.
FreeCol (Windows, Mac OS X, *built on Java): Acloneof the game Colonization, similar to FreeCiv but here the objective is to obtain independence of your colony.
