The Pursuit of Happyness is a drama based on true facts of the life of Christopher Gardner and was loosely adapted from his autobiography. The movie was released in December of last year and was nominated for an Academy Award for best male actor, Will Smith.
The Pursuit of Happyness was released by Columbia Pictures at the end of 2006. The movie is based on true facts, but as we will see, there are some major differences between the movies and real life.
Main actors are Will Smith as Chris Gardner and his son, Jaden Christopher Syre Smith in the role of Chris Gardner's son, Christopher. This is the first american movie by the Italian Director Gabriele Muccino. The reccomendation of having Muccino was done by Will Smith himself. The film tells the story about Chris Gardner's dream of being happy. The formula for happiness in his case had to do with money. The main character describes his life without a job and money while having to support a family. The moment that changed Chris' life was when a shiny red Porsche parked right beside him. Chris then asked the driver what he did for a living, and the answer was "I am a stock broker." It was then that Chris started to draw his career plans.

His wife this it is a very risky idea, knows the bills are pilling up and then decides to travel to seek better opportunities. Chris is now left alone with his son to try to be successful in life. In his journey Chris even lives a homeless life. To try to maintain calm, Chris asks his son to trust him knowing that things will get better. Chris tries an internship in a brokerage firm and a possible (read: slight chances) of a job. The name of the movie, Pursuit of Happyness comes from the American Declaration of Independence: "Life, liberty and to the pursuit of happiness" are the true inalienable rights of men. The change from "i" to "y" in the name is because Chris observed this spelling near his son's daycare.
The real Chris Gardner does a cameo in the movie. At the last scene he says hello to the main characters and after they pass, Chris Gardner looks back while Christopher continues to tell his 'knock-knock' jokes. The differences between real life and the movie are many, such as: - Linda, who is Chris Gardner wife in the movie never existed. Chris Garnder was married twice and Linda is a role to represent both personalities. The first wife left after Chris gave up the idea of being a doctor and have other objectives in life. He later had an relationship with another woman and had a child with her;
- Christopher, Chris's son was actually 2 years old when these facts were occurring and not 5 years as the Jaden Christopher has;
- Chris' internship was not volunteered, he was paid US$1000 a month. Even with this amount he was not able to rent a house;
- He spent actually 10 days for not paying US$1200 in parking fees;
- During 1981 - 1983 the American goverment gave incentives for hiring minorities. Chris Garnder help some assistance to get his job because of this.
Watch a preview: Generally speaking, the movie is very rich in emotions. The director is able to develop an environment.
