The will to live, the desire to break routine life, the dreams that can still become true and love at old age are some themes brought in this co-production that brings a partnerships between Argentina and Spain.
Even with a story full of cliché and common things (that brings with it the lesson that it is never too late to love), Marcos Carnevale is able to broaden the story, turning the movie into a light and fun option, that brings emotion and laughter at the same time. There is the shattered myth about sex for the elderly through the use of hints, and we can note that falling in love is never easy, regardless of age. When both of them join together, there starts a fun and risky change from daily routine, jokes about life and creation of moments that are perceived to be independent from reality. He (the director) seems to be interested in showing for us all the time that life is there to be lived and that time never stops. People plan so much for tomorrow, that they live their lives for a future that may never occur. Lets forget the time that is happening right now. In a precise moment, Elsa turns to Alfredo and says: "I don't think that you are afraid of dying. I think you are afraid of living." All of this complemented by the beautiful soundtrack of the Argentine Lino Vitale. Another point that brought attention was the interaction between history and movie: the main actress, decided to become an actress after the age of 50, restarting life. In the technical area, there are flaws, such as abrupt cuts, giving the impression that we are watching a movie made for television, filled with commercials. But the script is so evolving, and the actors are so well integrated to everything that is happening that surely this can be left unnoticed. Impossible not to feel emotional with this story. I think that everyone leaves the movie wanting to create a better day. And if the entire movie is too cliché, why not do a review filled with the same essence, isn't it true?! I end then stating that being happy is a constant interior choice, and that we wake up everyday with this power of decision. Movie snippet in Spanish:
